WWE star "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson's slate of four major movie releases in 2013 has grossed nearly $1.0 billion combining domestic and international.
Rock's box-office success was reported by Entertainment Weekly and syndicated onCNN.com. The report notes "Snitch," "G.I. Joe 2," "Pain & Gain," and box-office smash "Fast 6" have combined to gross approximately $937 million worldwide.
Rock addressed the report on Twitter, noting, "At 24 I started wrestling in flea markets for $40 bucks a night. This feels good."
Now, Rock is turning his attention to TV, where his new reality competition show, "The Hero," debuts Thursday night on TNT.
Hero is scheduled to air at 8:00 p.m. EST following a big push on TNT during NBA Playoffs coverage. Coincidentally, "Hero" is premiering opposite Game 1 of the NBA Finals on ABC.
Early Thursday, Rock tweeted about the new series: "Wanted to make a show thats fun, unique & cool with some heart. Tonight we bring you #TheHero on TNT.
